In 2005 a small group of Manitobans recognized a need that was not being addressed by the health care system and decided to do something about it.

Helping Hands for Manitobans with Breast Cancer Inc. supports women and men in Manitoba who are experiencing financial difficulties while undergoing treatment and follow up for breast cancer. The organization supports costs such as:

- uninsured medical or treatment costs
- transportation, accommodation, meals
- specialized necessities, wigs, prostheses
- rehabilitation programs
- support care services
- quality of life emergency expenses
