Welcome to the Rocky Mountain Soap Company Women's Run & Walk       #RMSCrun

A COVID-19 update for Women's Run participants (December): REGISTRATION WILL NOT OPEN JANUARY 1

What a year...

Usually a time to gather and share, the 2020 holidays look a little bit different for all of us. Many aren't able to be with family or friends, and we hope that you were able to find some reasons to be grateful, no matter how big or small. We are grateful for the beautiful outdoors, and the freedom to enjoy them... Especially in these relatively warm winter temperatures!

For the first time in many years, we will not be opening our registration to new participants on January 1. Instead we will focus on providing a safe experience for those who chose to roll their registration forward from 2020. We will continue to work with our local public health authority as well as the Canmore Nordic Centre and Town of Canmore to ensure the Women's Run will be able to take place in a slightly altered, socially distant, yet equally empowering and uplifting way!

The dates are set for the 14th Annual Rocky Mountain Soap Women's Run & Walk, and the plan is still to see you all at the Canmore Nordic Centre on Saturday, May 29 and Sunday, May 30 of next year. If anything was learned from the past 9 months, it's that plans can change in the blink of an eye, and we will keep you updated as the planning process moves forward.

Once again, Fast and Female is the partner charity of the Rocky Mountain Soap Women's Run & Walk. 2020 was a hard year for businesses and non-profit organizations alike, and we look forward to supporting them again in 2021. We love their vision and their energy and the way they inspire girls to be healthy and active in sports.

Hang in there for the final days of 2020, and here's to moving onwards and upwards in 2021! Wishing you a healthy and happy holiday season.

A COVID-19 update for Women's Run participants (June): Races Postponed to 2021

Every year we look forward to connecting with you and so many others, and It is with heavy hearts that we announce the 2020 Rocky Mountain Soap Women's Run & Walk has been postponed until 2021. This is also the case for the Fast and Female Girl's Run.

The decision to postpone the Women's Run and Walk through to 2021 is not one that we've taken lightly. Inviting you, our Rocky community, to come together in a celebration of health and nature and empowerment is one of our favourite experiences of the year!

While we have come so far here in Alberta through the past 3+ months, there are still so many unknown variables affecting our future plans. As outlined in our previous message, there were some key targets that we were hoping to meet in order to proceed with a postponed 2020 Rocky Mountain Soap Women's Run:
  • Government of Alberta guidelines allowing for outdoor events and group gatherings
  • Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park able to host large-scale events
  • The Town of Canmore welcoming visitors in large groups
  • The Women's Run able to take place in a modified manner while ensuring the health and safety of participants, volunteers, and staff

At this point in time, there is no guarantee that large group events will be allowed in Alberta, we are still unable to confirm the venue booking, and group events are cancelled in the Town of Canmore for the month of September. It is also likely that the incredible Women's Run race weekend vibe and participant offerings would be hugely impacted by strict social distancing regulations.
The Rocky Mountain Soap Women's Run & Walk and Fast and Female Girl's Run have been postponed to May 29/30, 2021.

As we are not able to meet the criteria to move forward with the RMS Women's Run in 2020, all participants will automatically have their registration rolled over to the 2021 races with no additional cost.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO NEXT?
Anybody registered for the 2020 races will remain registered for the 2021 event on May 29/30, 2021. You will keep your spot for the same race day (Saturday/Sunday) and distance (5km/10km/Half Marathon), with your same choice of race item. No action is required if you want to join us next year, PLUS you don't need to set a January 1 alarm to sign up for the Women's Run!

REFUNDS
Refunds were accepted until September 30. Please note that anybody who applied for and received a refund will need to re-register in 2021 should you change your mind and wish to join us. We cannot guarantee a spot for you as they will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis.

FAST AND FEMALE
For those with girls registered in the Girl's Run, put on by our partner charity Fast and Female, please follow up for details on that event postponement: https://fastandfemale.com/upcoming-events/girls-run/

Thank you so much for following along through this time of uncertainty, and we can't wait to celebrate the Women's Run in a bigger and better way in 2021!

Health, happiness and Rocky Mountain sunny summer vibes to you all,
The Rocky Mountain Soap Women's Run organizing team
