FAQs
How do I know if I am registered?
Confirmation of your race entry will be emailed to you. To ensure your entry has been received, you can check the online registration list.
How many people are expected to participate in the event?
We are expecting approximately 3000 women to run and walk over the course of 2 days.
Can I raise funds for charity?
Please click here to read about the Fundraising Opportunities set up by Fast and Female and for more information on how you can raise extra funds for a great cause!
Is there a race course map available?
Please see our Course Description page for details on the planned race courses. Note that these may change due to weather or wildlife concerns prior to the event.
Are there any rules I should be aware of?
Please click here for rules and guidelines.
What will the weather be like?
As we are in the mountains, the weather can be variable and often unpredictable! Note that it might be wet at this time of year, so please plan ahead in order to make sure you are dressed appropriately (ie. those brand new, bright white trainers might not be the best choice!).
Click here to see the current weather in Canmore.
At what elevation is the race course?
The Canmore Nordic Centre is approximately 1400m above sea level.
I'm planning to run with a stroller, will the trails allow this?
If you have signed up for the 5km stroller jog, you will be on paved trails (aside from a short distance near the start/finish area). These trails are designed for roller skiers and will be no problem with your running stroller.
Where can I stay if I'm coming from out of town?
There are plenty of options when it comes to staying over in Canmore. Visit explorecanmore.ca for listings, or CLICK HERE for special offers from our accommodation partners.
How do I get my race package?
Follow this link for more information about race package pick ups. We ask that all participants in Calgary and Canmore (and nearby areas) pick up their race packages before the event in order to reduce confusion on the race day.
Can I pick up race packs for my entire group, or does everyone need to come retrieve their own?
It's not a problem for you to pick up race packs for others – please bring a list with names and race day/distance, sorted by last name. This will make the pick up quicker!
Is it too late to change the distance I want to race?
Not at all. Due to the high volume of runners we ask that you let us know prior to race package pick up if you would like to change your course distance. NOTE THAT YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TRANSFER INTO ANY RACE DISTANCES THAT ARE ALREADY SOLD OUT (ie. Saturday 10km race).
Please email distance change requests to [email protected]
Can I transfer my spot?
Refunds or cancellations are not accepted. You are however able to transfer your spot. Click here and scroll down to the Transfers section for more information.
Where should I park?
Help us make this event even greener and carpool with your friends! Parking is available at the Canmore Nordic Centre - volunteers will direct you. Parking is NOT AT ALL allowed on the Highway 742/Spray Lakes Road. All vehicles parked there will be towed at owners' expense.
There is also a shuttle bus that will collect runners from various locations in town to get up to the race. These shuttles will run until 2pm each day in order to bring runners back to town. NOTE: Strollers and bikes are not allowed on the shuttles. Check the EVENT ESSENTIALS page for more details on the shuttle schedule.
Where is the start and finish area?
As in the past, the half marathon, 10km and 5km races will all start and finish in the cross-country ski stadium, located behind the day lodge. Please note that the start area may be relocated to the front side of the day lodge, weather-dependent.
Will there be water/aid stations?
Bring your own water bottle and help us save paper cups!! Water stations will be set up at the start/finish area, and every 2-3km along the 5km and 10km routes. It is recommended that those running the half marathon carry their own water supply, depending on individual needs. There will be water stations set out, but there might be up to 4km between them.
Course Marshals and First Aid Attendants will be stationed along all race courses and will have radio contact with the main first aid station at the start/finish area. Please ask them for help if needed!
Can I walk instead of run?
Walkers are invited to take part in the 10km distance on Saturday, and in the 10km or 5km distance on Sunday. We ask that walkers kindly line themselves up at the back of the starting pack. For anyone wishing to walk the half marathon, note that the half marathon course will close 3.5 hours after the start time.
Strollers and children - are they allowed?
You can push an off-road stroller (we will ask you to stay at the back of the pack). If your children are participating as walkers/runners, they are required to register. We also have the Fast and Female Girls' Run taking place both days - a special event for girls aged 5-12 who aren't able to complete the 5km distance.
What about my canine running buddy?
Dogs are not permitted on course at the Rocky Mountain Soap Women's Run. There are too many people on the course to worry about leash entanglement or potential conflict with other dogs or wildlife. We ask that your pup stick with you for training runs only.
Can I listen to music while walking/running?
We don’t recommend wearing ear buds during the event, as you may not be able to hear wildlife or course marshals with important information.
Will I receive an award?
Finisher medals are awarded to all Half Marathon participants.
The top 3 finishers for each age group in the Mountain Half Marathon, 10km and 5km races will also receive an award. Age groups are: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
